Kraken Corked Prototype
You may have seen this on Facebook a month or 2 ago. This is one of our Kraken Signature bats which I’ve experimented with to enhance the feeling.
The hollowed Centre and corked finish is not to reduce weight. The purpose is to allow a little give or recoil when the ball hits the bat and allow the bat to continue through the stroke.
Bouncing the ball off this bat does have a slightly nicer feel to it. But it’s more noticeable at pace rather than a gentle tap up.
Whilst hollowing the core of bats or capping hollows is nothing new it’s been done by Gray Nicolls with the ultimate and Predator bats, Slazenger, Millichamp and Hall with their signature and also the more recent pumas which were drilled and capped from the toe. Impala brought out a pendulum version where you could see right through the edges from one side to another.
I’ve used many of these bats personally and found the feeling and performance to be incredible.
There’s a reason why they’re illegal in baseball!
This bat has 9mm diameter holes drilled through side to side and capped with 15mm diameter shorter holes that have been corked with single punched Portuguese cork.
if you want something truly unique then this is for you.
