What Cricket Bat Does Ellie Johnston Use?
A Kraken Cricket bat of course! Kraken Cricket in Adelaide. Ellie Johnston first reached out to Kraken cricket back in early 2020 as an up and coming young cricketer looking to break into the Brisbane Fire squad (The 4 day format). And we are Kraken Cricket have been her bat provider ever since.
Since joining Kraken Cricket, Ellie’s progress has been phenomenal.
At club level Ellie has peeled off century after century, and most of them at well over a run a ball with that big clean hitting she’s become known for.
This earned Ellie a contract in the WBBL for the Brisbane Heat, and is now a regular player for Queensland Cricket in their 4 day and The Brisbane Heat in their WBBL side.
What cricket brand sponsors Ellie Johnston of the Brisbane Heat?
The Cricket Bat Ellie Uses: Ellie uses a custom made Kraken Limited Edition cricket bat. Her bats, whilst light, aren’t super light compared to a lot of the other female cricketers. Ellie prefers a bat weight around the 2lb8oz to 2lb9oz mark, provided it picks up lighter. As little or no concaving if possible, and a mid to mid low sweet spot.
Who makes Ellie Johnston’s Cricket Bats?
Bat maker Mark White in Adelaide has made some of Ellie’s most recent cricket bats.In fact, Ellie recently flew in from Queensland for a weekend just to get one hand crafted in front of her. She really enjoyed the experience of getting a bat personally tailored to her specifications.
Ellie was able to pick up the bat during the process, and judge the feel and pickup for herself, and provide feedback to the bat maker about the handle shape, the pick up and where more wood needed to come off to enhance the pickup and keep a large full bat.
