Due to the nature of cricket some breakages can occur which are not the fault of materials or manufacturer. Kraken Cricket provides a 12 month warranty on bats, this does not include toe damage.

CHANGE OF MIND RETURN
Australian Consumer Law states that the retailer is not required to provide a refund or replacement if you change your mind.  However, Kraken Cricket will exchange or provide store credit for items that are returned in saleable condition within 7 days of purchase date. For bats this means they must not have been used, and must be pristine unused condition as delivered.

WARRANTY RETURN
Kraken Cricket always try to process warranty returns as quickly as possible and in accordance with ACCC Consumer Guarantees.  You can choose a refund or exchange if an item has a major fault.  This is when the item:
•    Has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying the item if they had known about it
•    Is unsafe
•    Is significantly different from the sample or description
•    Doesn’t do what we said it would, or what you asked for and can’t easily be fixed
If the problem is a minor fault, we will repair the item within a reasonable time, and we have first right to repair. Taking it to another repairer nulls the warranty.

CRICKET BAT WARRANTY & THINGS TO REMEMBER:

  • Over 50% of bat breakages are in bats that are under oiled or over oiled. Please look after your bat and take the appropriate time to oil, knock in with a wooden mallet. Apply the scuff sheet, and slowly play it in using old balls to check for dents or seam marks. Warranties do not cover lack of preparation, poor knocking in, or damage caused due to over or under oiling a bat.
  • A cricket bat is not going to look new forever & cracks will appear.
  • Bats are made of a natural material & have an incredibly hard task of hitting a solid Cricket Ball repeatedly.
  • Cracks can occur during the Knocking-In process & do not necessarily resemble a fault/defect
  • Cracking may be an indication of insufficient Knocking-In, improper preparation/use, soft willow etc
  • A small amount of cracking is normal & has no impact on the performance of the bat. These can usually be sanded down & have been appearing on bats for centuries
  • The lifespan of a bat depends on the amount of use & care taken.
  • Added protection such as Extratec & Toe Protection is highly recommended for enhanced longevity
  • Some bats may require more/less preparation than initially advised. Knocking-In time is a general guide & does not mean that once you have completed the hours that your bat is ready. Eg if your Knocking-In has not been performed up to standards you could spend 30+ hours on your bat & it may still not be ready.
  • The price of a bat does not reflect the potential longevity of the willow. In fact, the more expensive bats are made of softer willow & though they will outperform cheaper bats, they may not last as long.

BAT WARRANTY PROCESS:

Kraken Cricket needs to see your bat to arrange the correct course of action following a warranty claim. Currently, there is no standard remedy for a claim. Each claim will depend on the circumstances & is taken on a case to case basis. A course of action may include a repair, replacement, refund or having the service performed again. Kraken Cricket will deal with any return of a bat purchased either from our Stores or Online. We will always assess your claim in adherence of the Australian Consumer Law. All cricket bats sold by Kraken Cricket have a 12-month warranty against damage deemed to be manufacturing fault & no fault of the consumer. Most claims cannot be remedied instantly.
This does not cover toe damage on any bats.

THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER:

  • Yorker damage to the toe of the bat / Toe Damage of any kind
  • Damage that occurs due to lack of Knocking/Playing In, machine Knocking-In or inaccurate play.
  • Kraken Cricket doesn’t recommend that bats be Knocked/Played In by machine. Machines often fail to complete the process correctly, or damage the bats and put pressure on the shoulders causing damage.
  • Damage resulting by bats being machine prepared (not naturally Played In)
  • Damage that occurs due to poor preparation/maintenance (e.g. lack of toe guard, over/under oiling etc)
  • Damage due to moisture (wet weather) or heat (do not leave in car boot/direct sunlight etc)
  • Damage Due to moisture in the toe, or aggressive tapping causing delamination which can start toe cracking.
  • Damage from non-leather or composite balls (including bowling machine balls)
  • Improper use (including hitting things others than cricket balls – eg stumps)
  • the bat is deemed not to have been properly prepared.
  • the bat is deemed to have been mis-treated.
  • the scuff sheet is not applied
  • you have been using Cheap Hard cricket balls or bowling machine balls

Cricket Bat Warranty may be voided if the above guidelines are not adhered to. Bats with broken handles, cracks & other minor occurrences within the warranty guidelines will be sent back to the manufacturer for repair. It takes an average of 10-14 working days to assess/repair the occurrence in conjunction with the manufacturer. When making a warranty claim, proof of purchase needs to be supplied to Kraken Cricket by the customer (receipt/bank statement).

Please remember that Cricket Bats are made from a natural material that has the incredibly hard task of hitting a solid object repeatedly. A small amount of cracking is normal & has no impact on the performance of the bat. Small cracks can usually be sanded out and have been appearing on cricket bats for centuries! Cracking is not a sign of a faulty bat, but an indication your bat requires further knocking in.
